Carlton D. Gripper, 73, passed into his heavenly home on June 29, 2012 at his residence with his family around him. He was born on January 10, 1939 in Washington, DC to the late Henry and Amanda Boyles Gripper.
Carlton attended public schools in Washington, DC. He also attended Drafting School where he excelled but did not like working indoors.
Gripper’s (as he was affectionately called) second family are the owners and employees of Priba Furniture in Greensboro, NC where he worked for 35 years.
Cherishing his memory are his wife of 50 years, Barbara Gripper of the home; four children, Donez Gripper and Carmelita (Vincent) Dockery, both of High Point, NC; Carlton (Kathleen) Gripper, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN and Duane F. Gripper of Alexandria, VA; three sisters, Marian McMillan and Margaret Crawford both of Washington, DC, and Janice (Harry) Hyman of High Point, NC; one brother, Theodore (Janice) Gripper of Lanham, MD and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel, 1810 Brockett Avenue, High Point, NC. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 and also on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and other times at 1210 Guilford Avenue, High Point, NC.
The family would like to extend a “Very Special Thank You” to Priba Furniture.
